  • Best Hotels for the Yokote Kamakura Festival: Enjoy Onsen and Kiritanpo Nabe

My three friends and I are planning a trip to see the Kamakura Snow Festival in Yokote, Akita, next February. We're looking for a hotel with a budget of around 20,000 yen per person, per night. Are there any places that serve Akita's famous Kiritanpo Nabe for dinner and also have an onsen (hot spring)?

Yokote Plaza Hotel

7-1 Ekimaecho, Yokote

  • A hotel near Yokote Station where you can taste Akita specialties

  • Guests can also enjoy a natural hot spring in the bathing facility, located in an annex adjacent to the hotel. Situated right in front of Yokote Station, the hotel offers excellent access and is a perfect base for sightseeing. You can also enjoy the Kiritanpo Nabe you're looking for with our authentic Japanese cuisine.

Satomi

142-1 Keidaikawara, Soegawa, Akita-shi

  • A Convenient Hotel to Serve as Your Base for Kamakura Sightseeing.

  • Located in Akita City, this hotel is very convenient as a base for Kamakura sightseeing, with Yokote City only about an hour away via the expressway. Upon returning to the hotel, you can soak in a charming open-air bath while viewing the snowy landscape. Of course, a delicious Kiritanpo Nabe will be served for dinner. Japanese-style rooms for three guests are also available, allowing you to enjoy your stay well within budget. This inn is highly recommended for a girls' trip for those who want to enjoy sightseeing, onsen, and dining to the fullest.

Hotel Plaza Geihin

7-7 Ekimae-cho, Yokote City

  • A hotel featuring rich, natural hot springs and an exquisite traditional Japanese garden.

  • The hotel has a natural hot spring with an open-air bath and a large public bath, both of which you can enjoy while looking out at the garden. Additionally, you can thoroughly warm up in their stone sauna, regular sauna, or a private bath. I stayed in a Japanese-style room which was very spacious and allowed for a relaxing stay. The Japanese cuisine was also enjoyable, with a varied menu that included Kiritanpo Nabe.

Kakunodate Onsen Kayokan

30-19 KogomezawaNishinaganofurumezawa, Kakunodate-machi, Senpoku-shi

  • A hot spring inn in a quiet and relaxing area

  • For something a bit more laid-back, you should check out Kakunodate Onsen Kayoukan. It’s tucked away in a quiet spot in the Kakunodate suburbs, perfect for a relaxing and casual trip with friends. Honestly, there's nothing better than soaking in their onsen while watching the snow fall outside. And of course, dinner is the classic Akita Kiritanpo Nabe. Plus, they have Japanese-style rooms for three that are totally within your budget.

Ryokan Aoni Sanso

72 Shimotakano, Tazawako Obonai, Senboku

  • The milky white hot spring will warm you from the inside out

  • I recommend Aoni Sanso, located just over an hour's drive from the Yokote Kamakura venue. Its bath features a cloudy white sulfur spring, which is said to have high therapeutic effects. There is also a private bath available to book, so you and your friends can enjoy this special onsen all to yourselves. For dinner, you can thoroughly savor Akita's specialty, Kiritanpo Nabe. It's an inn that offers deep satisfaction within your budget and is a must-visit for onsen lovers.

KAMENOI HOTEL TAZAWAKO

Komagatake 2-32 Tazawako Obonai

  • The dinner buffet, where you can also enjoy Kiritanpo hotpot, is a highlight

  • The dinner buffet at Kamenoi Hotel Tazawa-ko features a wide array of Akita's local cuisine, including Kiritanpo Nabe, Inaniwa Udon, and Iburigakko. You can also enjoy piping-hot steak grilled at a live kitchen, with a total of about 60 different dishes to choose from. Furthermore, the onsen here is known as the "Triple Bihada-no-Yu" (Triple Skin-Beautifying Hot Spring) for its ability to make your skin feel silky smooth. February is the perfect time to visit, as you can also enjoy the snowy scenery.
