  • Under ¥10,000 & Near the Station: Best Budget Hotels in Hakata/Tenjin for a First-Time Solo Traveler?

I'm planning my first solo trip to Kyushu, and I'll be staying in Fukuoka. I'm looking for accommodation near Hakata Station or Tenjin Station that offers convenient access and a safe neighborhood. Specifically, I prefer a business hotel that is clean, secure, and has excellent amenities like strong Wi-Fi. My strict budget is under ¥10,000 per night. Could you recommend some highly-rated, cost-effective budget hotels in the area?

EN HOTEL Hakata

3-30-25 Hakataekimae, Hakata-Ku

  • Stylish Design and Excellent Value

  • For a business hotel in this price range, the lobby and room design are surprisingly stylish and sophisticated. The communal space on the first floor is large, comfortable, and perfect for working or relaxing. The strong security also made me feel safe during my solo stay. Finding such a stylish and comfortable hotel for under ¥10,000 per night offers fantastic value in Fukuoka.

  • Clean and budget hotel in Hakata

  • The hotel's location was excellent, within walking distance of Hakata Station and close to Canal City Hakata. The hotel's interior and rooms were new, and everything was clean and comfortable. Its quality is reassuring, allowing solo travelers to stay without worry. The price was also reasonable, making it an excellent business hotel for a base for sightseeing in Kyushu.

  • Hotel with easy access to the station

  • It's a 7-8 minute walk from Hakata Station and a 10 minute walk from Tenjin Station. The hotel is located halfway between the two stations, so it's very convenient and close to Nakasu. The room is quite clean even though it's cheap. It feels a little small, but it's bearable if you're just going to sleep.

Hotel Route Inn Hakataeki Minami

2-8-19 Hakataeki-Minami, Hakata-ku

  • Public Bath & Easy Access

  • The large public bath was the deciding factor for my solo trip to Kyushu, as I wanted to relax after long travel days. Being able to fully stretch out and warm up in the bath was wonderful. The room itself is simple but very clean and functional, with everything I needed. Although it’s a short walk from Hakata Station, it’s a quiet budget hotel perfect for travelers seeking a good night's rest.

  • Comfortable with free breakfast

  • I stayed here on a business trip, and was surprised to find that the free Buffet buffet was more substantial than I expected. This is a great benefit for those staying on a budget of less than 10,000 yen per night, as it saves on breakfast costs. Self-service coffee is available in the lobby, and I felt the service was attentive. Taking the shuttle bus from Hakata Station makes it even more convenient, so it's also a great base for sightseeing in the Tenjin area.

Hotel Hokke Club Fukuoka

3-1-90 Sumiyoshi

  • Best Budget Hotel Hakata

  • The hotel is about a 10-minute walk from the Hakata Station, but the route is straightforward, making access easy for my solo trip to Kyushu. It made accessing the Shinkansen and local lines incredibly smooth. The breakfast buffet, featuring local Fukuoka cuisine like mentaiko (spicy cod roe), was a major highlight that gave me energy for the day. For a budget hotel under ¥10,000, the quality is unbeatable.

  • Although it is independent guest cottages from Hakata Station, the large public bath and breakfast are satisfactory.

  • It's a little independent guest cottages from Hakata Station, but there is a large public bath and a good Buffet buffet. The cheapest room rate without breakfast is about 3000 yen. There are also plans that cost as little as 4000 yen. The rooms are business hotels, and the cheapest plans are windowsless, but if you're just going to sleep, it's not a problem.

Hotel Monterey La Soeur Fukuoka

  • Easy access to the city center!

  • A beautiful, high-class city hotel within 5 minutes of Tenjin subway station. The breakfast Buffet is recommended as it also has local Fukuoka products. It is also close to Oyafuko Street and the food stalls, so it is convenient for nightlife. You can also enjoy the Tenjin area. Dormy Inn Hakata Gion Natural Hot Spring

1-12 Reisen-machi

  • Popular chain hotels with natural hot spring

  • How about "Dormy Inn Hakata Gion"? It is a popular chain hotel with hot springs. You can relieve your daily fatigue in the large public bath and sauna. Free services include a welcome drink, iced drinks after the bath, and "Yonakisoba (noodles sold by a hawker at night)). It is also recommended because it is conveniently located, just a one-minute walk from Gion Station and a ten-minute walk from Hakata Station.

  • Great access, clean and reasonably priced

  • It's in front of Hakata Station (Hakata Exit), so it's very accessible. There are many hotels in the area, but this is one of the nicest and most affordable. The design is classic British, with a dignified and calm atmosphere. I often stay at this hotel when I'm on a business trip.

HOTEL MYSTAYS Fukuoka Tenjin Minami

3-14-20 Haruyoshi, Chuo-ku

  • Hotels with easy access from Tenjin

  • The hotel is in a good location and is recommended as a base for sightseeing around Tenjin, such as touring the food stalls in Hakata. The breakfast was Middle Eastern and Indian, not Japanese, but it was delicious. Coffee was available at the side of the elevator at the entrance, and was free to eat and drink at any time.

Heiwadai Hotel Tenjin

1-5-6 Maitsuru, Chuo-ku

  • Close to Tenjin Yatai

  • Although it is a room only, it is close to the Tenjin subway station. There are supermarkets and convenience stores nearby, so it is convenient. Also, it is about a 10-minute walk to the Nagahama Yatai and Tenjin Yatai, which are popular tourist spots, so I recommend eating there. The room is a little old-fashioned, but clean.

Richmond Hotel Fukuoka Tenjin

4-8-25 Wtanabedori, Chuo-ku

  • Beautiful and well located hotel

  • "Richmond" is a popular chain hotel, reasonably priced, with spacious rooms, and is a clean and neat hotel. This hotel is located in Tenjin, close to the station and in an excellent location. Breakfast is a Japanese and Western Buffet with about 60 items on the menu, and even though it is a business hotel, the quality of the food was high and I was very satisfied.

Hakata Nakasu Washington Hotel Plaza

2-8-28 Nakasu

  • A hotel with delicious breakfast just a 5-minute walk from Hakata Station

  • The hotel is located in Canal City, a 5-minute walk from Nakasu-Kawabata subway station and a 15-minute walk from JR Hakata station, making it convenient for going to the ramen stalls in Nakasu. I recommend it if you are staying alone. However, the stalls in Nakasu are expensive, so there are many stalls along the roads near the hotel that I recommend.

Toyoko Inn Hakata Ekimae Gion

1-38, Gion-cho Hakata-ku

  • Hotel located near Gion subway station

  • It may seem independent guest cottages from both Hakata Station and Tenjin Station, but if you take the elevator at Exit 6 of Gion Station on the subway, you'll be right in front of it. Considering that it's two subway stops to Tenjin Station and next to Hakata Station, it may seem independent guest cottages from both at first glance, but it's actually convenient. In fact, you can walk to either downtown area.

Toyoko Inn Hakata-eki Minami

2-10-23, Hakataeki-minami

  • Affordable and safe hotel

  • They have branches all over the country and the accommodation is cheap. It's a little far from Hakata Station, about a 15-minute walk, but the shuttle bus from Hakata Station comes to pick you up about once every 20 minutes. That makes it cheaper than other Toyoko Inns. The staff were very friendly. I use it often. There is a shuttle bus to Fukuoka Airport in the morning.
