  • Please recommend some high-end hot onsen(hot spring) inns in Matsuyama city or Dogo onsen(hot spring) in Ehime prefecture.

When I go to Japan, I'd like to travel to Matsuyama in Ehime Prefecture and experience Japanese hospitality at a luxury onsen(hot spring) Ryokan (Japanese inn). I'd like to stay at an inn with delicious food in Matsuyama city or Dogo onsen(hot spring). Could you tell me about a hotel that local Japanese people would like to visit at least once?

Dogo Onsen Dogo Funaya

1-33 Yunomachi, Dogo

  • A long-established onsen(hot spring) Ryokan (Japanese inn) in onsen(hot spring) that was founded 390 years ago

  • When it comes to long-established Ryokan (Japanese inn) in Dogo onsen(hot spring), there's Funaya, which was founded 390 years ago and is a Ryokan (Japanese inn) that even Japanese people dream of staying at at least once. Funaya was founded during the Edo period, even before the main building of Dogo onsen(hot spring), and has hosted many famous Japanese guests, including Emperor Showa. If you're coming all the way to Japan to stay overnight, we recommend a Japanese-style room. If you stay on the Club Floor (special rooms) on the 7th and 8th floors, the bath in your room will be made of cypress and will be filled with hot water from Dogo onsen(hot spring). Of course, there is a large public bath, but if you don't like being naked in public, there is also a foot bath in the garden. Dogo onsen(hot spring) has many dining options, but dinner at Funaya is prepared by top-class chefs, offering both Japanese and Western cuisine, so be sure to book a stay with meals included!

You can relax and enjoy your meal in your room, so it is recommended for those who want to stay at a Japanese Ryokan (Japanese inn) at a leisurely pace. It is also convenient for sightseeing in Matsuyama, including Dogo onsen(hot spring) and Isaniwa Shrine. The shrine building at Isaniwa Shrine is painted vermilion and is very beautiful. It is recommended for a morning stroll.

  • You can dine in your room and relax.

  • Funaya is a long-established inn that has been in business since the Edo period, and is a famous Ryokan (Japanese inn) that even appears in the famous Japanese historical novel, "Clouds Above the Hill." Meals are served in the privacy of your own room, so it's a great way to relax and enjoy a Japanese Ryokan (Japanese inn) experience.

  • This is a long-established onsen(hot spring) Ryokan (Japanese inn) in Dogo onsen(hot spring).

  • This is a popular onsen(hot spring) Ryokan (Japanese inn) that is one of the oldest in Matsuyama. The exterior is a charming Japanese-style Ryokan (Japanese inn), and the food is of course Japanese, with the kaiseki cuisine being particularly excellent. The restaurant is located near the garden, so you can dine while listening to the murmuring of the river. The baths are also spacious, making this Ryokan (Japanese inn) will leave you satisfied.
