Zao Kokusai Hotel

This hotel is easily accessible from the ropeway station and is also recommended for sightseeing of frost-covered trees. This hotel offers high satisfaction with both the hot springs and the food. The hospitality of the hotel itself is also excellent, and the course meal using Zao beef is very satisfying. I would recommend this hotel as one to stay at least once.

This is Ryokan (Japanese inn) with a natural 100% natural hot spring in Zao Onsen, Yamagata Prefecture, a famous hot spring in the Tohoku region. The rooms were calming Japanese-style rooms, so we were able to relax. The food was delicious, with juicy Yamagata beef and dishes made with local rice and ingredients such as "Haenuki" and "Tsuyahime". We also had Zao beef steak. The hot spring has three private baths, so it is recommended for family stays. The indoor bath is also spacious.

I stayed here last summer and was able to enjoy the hot springs of Zao at a beautiful Ryokan (Japanese inn). Since it is adjacent to the ski resort, it is a great location to warm up your body after skiing. Shabu Shabu（Japanese hotpot）-shabu dinner was also excellent. Please note that private baths are available on a first-come, first-served basis.

This is one of the largest hotels in Zao Onsen, conveniently located on the slopes. It is also close to the ropeway station, and the famous frost-covered forest spreads around the summit station. Zao Onsen is a traditional hot spring with a high sulfur content, a milky white sulfur-rich hot spring with a unique smell. It is a very hot spring-like inn, and I highly recommend it.

Taking bath to view the snow in winter is the best. From December, you can see frost-covered trees in Zao, Yamagata Prefecture, and I remember feeling ecstatic after soaking in Zao Onsen to soothe my frozen body. The indoor bath is made of wood, has a nice scent, and you can feel the warmth of the wood. The windows are all glass, giving it an open feeling, and the bath is spacious.

I visited Zao this summer. I enjoyed a wonderful trip to Zao's impressive hot springs and beautiful inns. The ropeway was originally a ski resort facility, so next time I'd like to enjoy skiing. It was conveniently located next to the ski resort, so I think I'll be able to enjoy Zao in the winter too.
