  • Yufuin Onsen | I am looking for a Japanese-style hot spring inn where I can eat delicious fugu in the winter.

I'm going to Yufuin Onsen in the winter, so I'm looking for a hot spring inn where I can eat delicious fugu. I don't mind if it's sashimi or hot pot. I'd like a Japanese-style inn with a nice atmosphere, so please let me know your recommendations.

Yufuin Onsen Onyado Nakaya

1530-2 Kawakami

  • A relaxing inn where you can stay without any worries.

  • This is a relatively reasonable price for a stay in Yufuin, a high-end hot spring resort. All rooms have a view of Mt. Yufu, which is very relaxing. The baths include a sophisticated indoor bath reminiscent of a hot spring resort, and an open-air bath made of large rocks, allowing you to fully enjoy the famous hot springs of Yufuin. For meals, there is a limited-time fugu-filled plan, where you can enjoy fugu sashimi, fugu hotpot, fried fugu, and fugu porridge to finish off the day.

  • A small, cozy Ryokan (Japanese inn) with lovely, calming Japanese-style rooms

  • This Ryokan (Japanese inn) is located halfway between Yufuin Station and Lake Kinrin. You can see Mt. Yufu from the rooms. It is also very convenient for going for a walk as it is close to Lake Kinrin. There are various menus for meals, and you can enjoy a full course of your choice of fugu tetchiri hotpot or tetsuna sashimi. This is a small and lovely Ryokan (Japanese inn) with only seven calming Japanese-style rooms.

  • Warm up in the winter with delicious fugu and hot springs

  • I thoroughly enjoyed the delicious fugu here. The translucent, shiny "tessa" had a great texture. The "tecchiri" had plump flesh and a delicious broth after simmering. The deep-fried fugu was plump and delicious. I ate in the dining area rather than in a room, but I felt safe because hygiene was strictly controlled. The open-air bath was made of rocks and had a nice feel to it. It is a small inn with only seven rooms, so even the large public bath is not crowded.

  • There is a plan where you can taste Bungo Tiger Fugu.

  • If you stay at this inn between October and November, you can get a plan that allows you to taste tiger pufferfish from Bungo. You can eat pufferfish sashimi, fried pufferfish, pufferfish hotpot, pufferfish sushi, and pufferfish porridge all in one meal. The inn has an open-air bath overlooking Mt. Yufu and a private bath, where you can enjoy the 100% natural hot spring water directly from the source. There is a free shuttle to Yufuin Station, so it is a convenient inn with easy access.
