Nozawa Onsen Ryokan Sakaya

9329, Toyosato, Nozawaonsen-mura Shimotakai-Gun

  • A Nozawa Onsen inn with a private family bath

  • The guest rooms are 10 tatami Japanese-style rooms, so they are spacious and perfect for families to relax in. The hot spring has a private family bath that can be reserved in advance, so you can relax with just the family. For dinner, you can enjoy kaiseki(a traditional Japanese multiple course meal )made with plenty of Shinshu ingredients, such as Shinshu beef Shabu Shabu(Japanese hotpot). For breakfast, you can enjoy hot spring rice porridge made with the hotel's own hot spring water, barley rice, grilled yamame trout, and hot spring eggs. Of course, there is a free parking lot, so you don't have to worry. The very popular Osaru no Onsen is about 30 minutes away by car.

  • This retro wooden bathhouse, built by a master carpenter, has private baths and a Mixed-Gender Hot Springs spa.

  • Just looking at the magnificent large wooden baths, built by palace carpenters for both men and women, while soaking in the bath, gives you a nostalgic and rich feeling. After a leisurely bath in the large bath, you can go to the adjacent open-air bath. Even though you are exposed to the outside air, you will start to sweat. Then, you can enter the sauna next to the open-air bath. Your body is completely warmed up, and sweat starts pouring out of you in the sauna. You can only stay in the sauna for eight minutes before you enter the open-air cold bath. It is a blissful moment. Since the large bath is adjacent to the cold bath, I ended up repeating this sequence three times. It was an emotional moment when I ate a creative Japanese banquet with a generous serving of Nagano local cuisine with my body in perfect condition. You can reserve a private bath if you wish, and there is a Mixed-Gender Hot Springs spa (wearing a swimsuit or bathing suit) at independent guest cottages "Jonnobi" that can be used free of charge, so you can also use it with your family. There are many soto-yu (public bathhouses) around "Sakaya", so if you have the time and energy, it would be a good idea to go on a hot spring tour.

  • There are baths of different temperatures

  • This is a long-established Nozawa Onsen establishment, and has a large public bath built in the traditional bathhouse style. It is divided into three baths: hot, warm, and hip baths, making it convenient for children who don't like hot water. Private baths are also available, so the whole family can enjoy the hot springs at their leisure. The meals are also filling and satisfying.

  • A lodging where you can be sure to use a private bath by reservation

  • This free private bath is limited to 5 groups per day, but since it requires a reservation, you can be sure to get a bath. This inn holds a walking tour of Nozawa Onsen town every day, where you can wear yukata and geta sandals, and is located close to the morning market, Tsukiyo no Yakata, and Madarayama Bunko.

Nozawa Onsen Hotel

7923-3 Toyosato, Nozawa Onsen-mura, Shimotakai-gun

  • There is a luxurious open-air family bath with 100% natural hot spring

  • There is a private open-air bath with 100% natural hot spring, so even families with children can enjoy onsen(hot spring) without any worries. However, it is limited to the first eight groups to arrive for 45 minutes, so we recommend making a reservation at check-in. The open-air bath in the large communal bath has a rustic atmosphere, so we also recommend it. The cuisine makes use of local seasonal ingredients, and we also enjoyed the homemade Nozawana, a Nozawa specialty. We stayed in a standard Japanese-style room in the main building, which was neat and tidy, allowing us to relax and unwind.

  • There is an open-air bath where the whole family can relax

  • This hotel has its own hot spring source. There is a private open-air bath, which is limited to eight groups per day. The bath is free-flowing from the source and lasts for 45 minutes. The bath is quite large, so there is plenty of room for the whole family. The food is mainly made of local wild vegetables.

  • A Nozawa inn with a private bath

  • This is an inn where you can enjoy the famous hot springs of Nozawa 100% natural hot spring source. You can use the private open-air bath, which is also directly drawn from the source, for free for 45 minutes, making it a great choice for families with children. On snowy days, you can enjoy a relaxing bath to view the snow while gazing at the snow.

  • There are private open-air baths and foot baths.

  • Nozawa Onsen Hotel has a private open-air bath if you wish. There is also a foot bath where you can easily enjoy the hot springs, so children can also enjoy it. The meals were full of local produce and bounty from the mountains and rivers, and I was very satisfied with both the taste and the volume. There are two large baths that rotate, each with a different type of water, and as someone who likes hotter water, I was also very satisfied with this. It is also close to the hot spring town, so I was able to enjoy the local atmosphere while taking a walk.

Nozawa Onsen Nozawa Grand Hotel

8888 Toyosato, Nozawa-Onsenmura, Shimotakai-gun

  • There is an open-air bath that can be rented for private use.

  • Located at the highest point in the hotel, it boasts the best view in Nozawa Onsen, so I recommend it. The rustic local cuisine, which emphasizes seasonal local ingredients, is also delicious. I chose a normal Japanese-style room, but I was able to relax and enjoy the view from the veranda.
