Along the Gono Line, you can feel the atmosphere of the north. If you want to leaf peeping in the Shirakami Mountains, the Hotel Grand Mer Sankaisou was great. It is the most luxurious hotel in the area. I was impressed by the view of the majestic Sea of Japan from the open-air bath.

This onsen(hot spring) inn is surrounded by abundant nature and has a quiet and relaxing atmosphere. It boasts two different types of open-air baths, one made of cypress and the other made of stone, from both of which you can relax and enjoy onsen(hot spring) while looking out at the nature of Oigami. Depending on your budget and number of guests, there are rooms with open-air baths, so you can enjoy onsen(hot spring) with your family without needing to bring water. The seasonal cuisine, made with local mountain and river produce, is also delicious and appealing.

If you are touring the Shirakami Mountains in Aomori Prefecture, I recommend "Aone Shirakami Juniko." It is a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk from Juniko Station. It is a comprehensive resort hotel surrounded by nature and has a very large site. It felt like a small theme park. You can also enjoy cottages and Japanese-style rooms. The food was delicious and locally produced, and I was satisfied. There are also guided trekking guides for Juniko and Shirakami Forest Bathing, so I think it was the perfect hotel for our purpose.

We recommend the Koganezaki Furofushi Onsen. It is a single inn located at the foot of the Shirakami Mountains, a World Heritage Site. The open-air bath offers Breathtaking view of the Sea of Japan, and has been featured in the media, including on TV travel shows. The nearest station is Tonosaku Station on the Gono Line, but there is also a shuttle bus from WeSpa Tsubakiyama Station, where the Resort Shirakami stops.

Shisuitei is an inn located on a small hill in Oigami onsen(hot spring), where you can enjoy the rich nature. 100% natural hot spring has onsen(hot spring) with natural hot spring water and an open-air garden bath, allowing you to relax in onsen(hot spring) amidst the beautiful nature of Oigami. The inn is also popular for its meals, which make generous use of fresh local Gunma ingredients, and is proud of its creative dishes made with fresh seasonal vegetables from the inn's own farm.
