For meals, we enjoyed creative cuisine that used many ingredients from Kagawa. For hot springs, we were able to enjoy the natural hot springs from the open-air bath on the rooftop while looking out over the hot spring town.

Taisho-era Charm and a Heartwarming Welcome

"Toramaru Ryokan" is housed in a building over 100 years old, dating back to the Taisho era. It’s an irresistible atmosphere for anyone who loves the "Showa-retro" vibe. While it is certainly old, it is beautifully maintained. The true charm of this place, however, is the staff, led by the proprietress (Okami-san). They are incredibly kind and genuinely welcome you like family. The large public bath, which draws water from the Konpira Onsen, has a wonderful, classic feel with its black marble bathtub. The access to Konpira-san is also excellent. This is an inn that truly warms your heart.

Perfect Location for the Konpira-san Visit & Great Views from the Bath

"Kotohira Grand Hotel Sakuranosho" is perfectly located right on the main approach (Omotesando) to Kotohira-gu Shrine. The location is outstanding. The open-air baths (rotenburo) here are fantastic, too. From the men's bath, you can actually see the Omon Gate (Great Gate) of the shrine. It's the perfect way to soothe your tired muscles after the long climb, all while enjoying the view. If you choose a standard plan, there are many dates available for around 15,000 yen. For what you get, I think it offers excellent value (good "cospa").

岐阜県高山の「平湯温泉スキー場」に近いです。平湯温泉の源泉かけ流しの総ヒノキの湯船に入れます。この宿の温泉は重曹成分を多く含んでいて、古い角質を柔らかくしてくれる「美人の湯」。「平湯温泉スキー場」までは車で3分、バスと徒歩で10分くらいの距離なのでアクセスが良いです。部屋は和室のみで、源泉かけ流し温泉付きの客室もあります。飛騨牛づくしの夕飯で、飛騨牛あぶり寿司を食べながらお酒が飲めるのは最高です。

長野県にある天下一ともいわれる圧巻の桜を見ることができます。天を仰ぐと空が見えないくらい桜で埋まっています。レイクビューも重なって何とも言えない情緒のある日本的な風景なので、外国の方は喜ばれると思いますよ。桜の時期は人気が高いのでお早目のご予約を。秋の紅葉の季節も絶景です。

ちょっと面白いホテルを紹介します。田島館は飛騨温泉にあるのですが、マッチョな若旦那が迎えてくれます。車やバスで30分ほどで行ける範囲に「ほおのき平スキー場」があります。「平湯温泉スキー場」も車で10分、バスで20分くらいの距離にあります。田島館では2種類の源泉をひいた温泉に入れます。温泉の品質管理、食事で出てくる味噌はオリジナルブレンドだったりと健康に関してこだわりがあり、「筋肉ドリンク」というものまであります！がっつりスキーをしたい、という方におすすめな宿です。

ホテルからスキー場「高鷲スノーパーク」まで車で10分くらいとアクセスが便利です。スキー旅行で温泉を満喫する旅にお勧めの宿です。二食付きで飛騨牛のしゃぶしゃぶ、さわら山椒焼きなど深みのある料理が豊富で贅沢です。温泉はキレイな大浴場が備わっていて、さっぱりとしたお湯でリラックスして浸かれて、自然と一緒に楽しめて癒されました。

河津ではないですが、東伊豆の熱川温泉にあり、河津桜まつりの会場からは車で20分程度だと思います。徒歩と特急電車でも30分くらいなのでわりと便利でした。全室オーシャンビューで朝日がバッチリ見える位置にあります。風呂は温泉で露天風呂や貸切風呂もあり、ゆったりできました。無料の駐車場ありましたので車で行かれても問題ありません。

"Kobaitei" is an inn I would definitely recommend for families who love onsen. True to its reputation as a "Yumoto" (the original source of the spring), it actually boasts two different types of hot spring water. The sheer number of baths is impressive, featuring a total of 15 different bathing spots, including the garden open-air bath "Hana Terrace" and the large public bath "Hana Sumika." You don't even need to leave the premises to visit other baths; you can enjoy a full day of "Yu-meguri" (onsen hopping) right inside this ryokan.

スキー場に近い飛騨高山のホテル

ここから20kmほどの場所にほおのき平スキー場があり、車で40分程度、バス使うなら1時間くらいなのでそこまで遠くないです。創業から50年以上で、高山を代表する綺麗なホテルです。部屋から見える山々の眺望も良く、庭園露天風呂が自慢です。地産地消の郷土料理、中でも飛騨牛を用いた料理は天下一品です。

If you are looking for a family trip to Konpira Onsen, I recommend "Kotohira-kaku." It's one of the largest ryokans in the Konpira Onsen area, and the facilities are extremely comprehensive. If you stay in the standard "Sansuikan" wing, you should be able to find a buffet plan that fits your budget of around 15,000 yen. The buffet has many items that kids love, like steak, sushi, and tempura, so the whole family enjoyed it. The baths are also very spacious. The garden-style open-air bath was very pleasant, offering a great sense of openness. It's highly recommended if you are traveling with children.

温泉はすべて貸切、離れもある温泉宿です

河津ではありませんが、以前、家族４人と義理の伯母で河津桜を見に行く際に宿泊しました。河津へは電車で約３０分程だったと思います。宿は広い敷地にフロント・食事処の建物、宿泊用の建物、貸切温泉等が点在しています。温泉はすべて貸切で、空いている時に好きなだけ何度でも入れます。
