If you are traveling to Kagoshima, I recommend "Ibusuki Shusuien." There are foot baths and sand foot baths where you can soak while looking at the garden, as well as a gallery and a shop, and many other services are available within the building. There is a fee for the hot springs, but the private baths were very nice. The scent and atmosphere of the cypress bath was particularly soothing.
