If you are visiting Tamatsukuri Onsen in Shimane, might I suggest Hoseikan? As one of the most distinguished and long-established ryokans in the onsen town, it boasts a legacy of over 300 years. This heritage is reflected in its excellent hot springs and legendary hospitality (omotenashi). The dining experience is equally superb, featuring a dinner of seasonal delicacies like Shimane Wagyu beef and snow crab. In the morning, you can enjoy a generous Japanese and Western-style buffet with over 20 dishes that incorporate local ingredients.

The main building has a large public bath and an open-air bath, and you can also use the large public bath and open-air bath at the sister building, Tabitei Yamanoi, which is just a minute's walk away. You can rent colorful yukata at the kaiseki（a traditional Japanese multiple course meal ）, so you can Visiting hot springs your skin. Emperor Showa was also a guest at this elegant, Japanese-style hotel. The open-air bath is set in a garden, and during the day you are surrounded by nature, giving you a feeling of openness and comfort. You can also view the nature from the windows of your room, and it was a very relaxing experience.

The guest rooms in the new building, which overlook the hot spring town of Tamatsukuri, are nice, but we recommend staying in a traditional Japanese-style room built with wood, where you can fully appreciate the beauty of a Japanese house that echoes the garden outside. It's nice to soak in the open-air bath that blends in with nature from your relaxing room, or to soak in the large bath surrounded by boulders.

This inn features a spacious main public bath lined with seven types of massive stones sourced from Okuizumo, as well as an open-air bath designed like a beautiful traditional garden. Both are perfect hot springs for slowly soothing your daily fatigue. The atmosphere of the open-air bath changes completely between the daytime and nighttime, allowing you to enjoy the differences in the scenery and mood.

The entire Tamazukuri Onsen is along the river, so you can enjoy a relaxed atmosphere. There is a foot bath, you can see small bronze statues, and you can also walk to small shops. The building is old, but it is a prestigious inn. We felt the hospitality when we were greeted and seen off. You can also take a bath in the hot springs of "Yamanoi" next door.

This is a ryokan in Tamatsukuri Onsen that maintains a high level of prestige and tradition; even the Showa Emperor once stayed here. It is composed of four distinct wings, each with a different atmosphere, allowing it to meet the various needs of its guests. The baths draw from the water of an onsen said to be Japan's oldest, and the spring water is very popular with female guests because it's famous for its beautifying properties.
