I recommend Oga, home to the "Namahage" traditional event in Akita Prefecture. The hotel offers a free shuttle from JR Oga Station, but it requires a reservation in advance and runs a limited number of times. There are also shared taxis available. I stayed in a room facing the ocean. The view of the Sea of Japan stretched out from the window, and was amazing. The food was mainly fish dishes, but there was a performance of hot stone cooking that was fun. The local sake was also delicious. The hot spring had cloudy water and was very pleasant. You can't see the ocean from the open-air bath, but it is surrounded by a Japanese garden and there is also a tub bath.

In the Japanese-style garden open-air bath, we enjoyed the refreshing winter air and snowy scenery while listening to the sound of a nearby waterfall. The meal was Buffet where we could enjoy the seasonal flavors of Tokachi, with a variety of dishes using seasonal ingredients such as Tokachi beef, dairy products, and vegetables. We were able to spend a time that satisfied both body and mind, surrounded by the rich nature of Hokkaido.

You can bathe in the hot spring water while your hair freezes from the steam. It feels more like you are bathing in a hot spring in the snow rather than enjoying the snow. The spring water is rich and warms your body. As it is a Prince Hotel affiliated hotel, the food is delicious and the rooms are a little old, but they are clean and nice.

When it comes to baths where you can see the snow, Nyuto Onsen and hot spring are famous, but it's quite difficult to get to Akita or Iwate in the winter. So, we recommend Karinyu in Okukinu hot spring, Tochigi, as a hidden gem for an open open-air bath bath where you can see the snow. The quality of the sulfur spring water, which flows directly from the source, is excellent, and since it's open-air bath in the middle of Nature, you can really experience the snow in the winter. Even after you get out of the bath, your body will be warm from the inside out.

Iwamatsu Ryokan (Japanese inn) is a hot spring inn in Sakunami Onsen, Sendai City, Miyagi Prefecture. It is relatively easy to access, as it can be reached by bus or train from Sendai Station. The hot spring here has an abundant supply of water, and there is also an open-air bath where you can enjoy the snowy scenery you desire. The breakfast Buffet was also delicious.

This is an inn in Oyu Onsen near Lake Towada. There is an open-air bath overlooking the Japanese garden, and in winter you can relax and enjoy the fantastical white garden covered in vegetation. At night, the lights are on, creating a fantastic atmosphere. The food is a kaiseki meal made with local ingredients, and our family had Hachimantai pork steamed in a bamboo steamer. It's difficult to enjoy the snowy scenery with the cheapest room, so I recommend a standard room or higher. Even in the standard room, the garden spread out in front of us and the view was wonderful.

This hotel is located deep in the mountains with poor transportation access and few restaurants, but it is very popular in the winter and it is difficult to make a reservation. The cloudy white water is amazing and wonderful while the snow is deep and falling steadily! This is the annex, but the main building is also good, and both include meals and cost less than 2 yen per person. Another recommendation is the restaurant. We enjoyed mountain delicacies and local cuisine around Japanese hearth.

Yamagata Prefecture has many wonderful hot spring, but I think Ginzan Onsen is the best. Ginzan Onsen, with its Taisho era romantic atmosphere, makes you feel like you're in another world. This inn has an indoor bath, open-air bath, and open-air bath Lying-down bath bath. All of the springs are of good quality and were very warming. In winter, the scenery is a silver world. There is no doubt that Ginzan Onsen becomes even more charming when covered in silver. The buildings and rooms are clean and well-maintained. The customer service is also impeccable. The food is also carefully prepared using local ingredients and was very delicious. I'm sure it will be a good memory of Ginzan Onsen.

The best thing about this hotel is the open-air bath. The slightly hot water will warm your body that has been chilled by the snow. You can also enjoy Akita's local cuisine. I was able to enjoy the hot springs at a reasonable price.

A covered open-air bath would be nice. It is located just a few minutes by car from Lake Tazawa, famous for the "Tatsuko Statue," and is surrounded by forests, making it a quiet environment. Both meals are Buffet, and Akita's local dishes "Kiritanpo Nabe" and "Iburi-gakko" are served.

If you're visiting Tokachigawa Onsen, we recommend the open-air bath at Hotel Daiheigen. In an open-air space, you can enjoy the free-100% natural hot spring moor hot springs also known as the "Bijin-no-yu (a hot spring of beauty)," while taking in the snow to your heart's content. In addition to the open-air bath, there are also a large public bath and a variety of beauty treatment facilities, including an esthetic bath using activated mineral water. You can enjoy Tokachi Onsen to the fullest.

The hotel is located at a relatively high altitude, so it is cold in the winter. You can use the private open-air bath for free. The outside temperature is extremely cold, but the spring quality is good and it warms your body, and the view of the mountains, streams, and snow is amazing. Also, the large public bath here is rare and has tatami mats, so this is also recommended.
