The hot spring was spacious and we were able to relax and enjoy it. The open-air bath with a view of Lake Ashi was also amazing.

If your friend ends up traveling alone for part of the trip, they even have cost-effective single-occupancy rooms in a separate annex (room-only basis). While meals aren't included with these, there are plenty of restaurants near the station and a convenience store nearby.
