If you are looking for a family trip to Konpira Onsen, I recommend "Kotohira-kaku." It's one of the largest ryokans in the Konpira Onsen area, and the facilities are extremely comprehensive. If you stay in the standard "Sansuikan" wing, you should be able to find a buffet plan that fits your budget of around 15,000 yen. The buffet has many items that kids love, like steak, sushi, and tempura, so the whole family enjoyed it. The baths are also very spacious. The garden-style open-air bath was very pleasant, offering a great sense of openness. It's highly recommended if you are traveling with children.

"Kobaitei" is an inn I would definitely recommend for families who love onsen. True to its reputation as a "Yumoto" (the original source of the spring), it actually boasts two different types of hot spring water. The sheer number of baths is impressive, featuring a total of 15 different bathing spots, including the garden open-air bath "Hana Terrace" and the large public bath "Hana Sumika." You don't even need to leave the premises to visit other baths; you can enjoy a full day of "Yu-meguri" (onsen hopping) right inside this ryokan.

"Kotohira Grand Hotel Sakuranosho" is perfectly located right on the main approach (Omotesando) to Kotohira-gu Shrine. The location is outstanding. The open-air baths (rotenburo) here are fantastic, too. From the men's bath, you can actually see the Omon Gate (Great Gate) of the shrine. It's the perfect way to soothe your tired muscles after the long climb, all while enjoying the view. If you choose a standard plan, there are many dates available for around 15,000 yen. For what you get, I think it offers excellent value (good "cospa").

Boasting a 400-year history, this is a long-established Ryokan (Japanese inn) that has been loved by many literary figures and celebrities. It features independent guest cottages sukiya-style building and a beautiful Japanese garden, and has a quiet, calm, and elegant atmosphere. It is also an excellent base for sightseeing, as it is just a 5-minute walk from the approach to Kotohira Shrine.

I highly recommend JR Hotel Clement Takamatsu. Not only is it ideally located right in front of Takamatsu Station, but there are also many udon restaurants nearby, so you'll have plenty of dining options. The hotel even has underground parking, making it a great base for exploring. You can reach areas like Kotohira-gu Shrine (Konpira-san) by car in about an hour. Takamatsu Castle is right nearby, and Ritsurin Garden is also easily accessible. Whether you're traveling solo or with family, this hotel caters to all, offering everything from single rooms to Japanese-style rooms that can accommodate up to five people.

For meals, we enjoyed creative cuisine that used many ingredients from Kagawa. For hot springs, we were able to enjoy the natural hot springs from the open-air bath on the rooftop while looking out over the hot spring town.

Many areas in the building are covered with tatami mats, and you can feel the warmth of traditional Japanese style from the moment you pass through the entrance. It's conveniently located, has hot springs, and is a comfortable and convenient inn.

Although it is a little independent guest cottages from Kotohira Shrine, about 15 minutes by car, it is one of the largest hot spring resort hotels in the area. There are shuttle buses from Okada Station and Kotohira Station, so you won't have any trouble visiting Kotohira Shrine. As a hotel chain that is particular about hot spring experiences, the feeling of freedom in the large open-air bath surrounded by nature is exceptional.

"Toramaru Ryokan" is housed in a building over 100 years old, dating back to the Taisho era. It’s an irresistible atmosphere for anyone who loves the "Showa-retro" vibe. While it is certainly old, it is beautifully maintained. The true charm of this place, however, is the staff, led by the proprietress (Okami-san). They are incredibly kind and genuinely welcome you like family. The large public bath, which draws water from the Konpira Onsen, has a wonderful, classic feel with its black marble bathtub. The access to Konpira-san is also excellent. This is an inn that truly warms your heart.

We recommend the APA Hotel Marugame Ekimae Odori. The most reliable and convenient way to get to the soccer stadium is to take the bus from in front of the station. This hotel is conveniently located within a 5-minute walk from Marugame Station, making it very easy to get to. The hotel also has a large public bath, and even the plan that includes a rich Buffet breakfast is very reasonable, so we recommend it as a base for sightseeing in addition to watching the games.

On soccer match days, a special shuttle bus runs from Takamatsu Station to the stadium, so this hotel near Takamatsu Station is convenient. The hotel offers free drinks, a microwave corner, and a coin laundry. The rooms range from single rooms to Japanese-style rooms that can accommodate four people, and the space is chic and relaxing.

Hotel Takamatsu Hills is conveniently close to Lion-dori Shopping Street, one of Takamatsu's liveliest downtown areas. This means it's not just great for your udon pilgrimage, but also perfect for exploring local eateries and enjoying a night out! Stroll through the charming, retro-covered shopping arcade and savor a "shime-udon" (udon as a late-night meal) at one of the udon shops open late. While the rooms are compact, they are well-equipped and comfortable. You can use their affiliated parking lot, and the parking fees are comparable to hotels with their own dedicated parking.

Takamatsu City Hotel, located in the heart of Takamatsu's downtown area, offers not only affordable "room only" plans but also puts you right amidst popular udon shops like "Udon-Bo" and "Mendokoro Wataya Takamatsu Branch." It's in a lively downtown spot yet still offers parking facilities. To ensure peace of mind, it's a good idea to reserve your parking spot in advance!

If you're traveling by car, Business Hotel Toho Inn Takamatsu is a highly recommended and cost-effective option. It boasts on-site parking for guests and offers very reasonable "room only" rates, helping you save on your overall accommodation expenses. Being slightly removed from the hustle and bustle of the city center means you can expect a relatively peaceful night's sleep. A charming perk is that you can even enjoy an "asa-udon" (morning udon) at a nearby udon shop that opens early, perfect for a morning stroll!

This inn is located an hour's drive from Shikoku Aquarium. You can enjoy 100% natural hot spring waters of Shionoe Onsen to your heart's content in the large communal bath, open-air bath, and the bath in your room. Meals are served in the restaurant, where you can enjoy Sanuki's specialty white miso hot pot pork for dinner and a Japanese breakfast for breakfast.

This inn is surrounded by nature and is a 50-minute drive from Shikoku Aquarium. The hot spring has a beautiful view that can only be found in the mountains, and you can enjoy the luxury of bathing in the hot spring while looking at the forest in front of Japanese hearth with a hearth. Even though it is in the mountains, Wi-Fi is available, so you can rest assured.

For travelers looking to keep accommodation costs down, Business Hotel Chateau Est Takamatsu is an excellent choice, offering very reasonable "room only" plans. And yes, it comes with complete parking facilities! What's even better is that some accommodation plans even include free parking, which is a fantastic bonus for those traveling by car.

"Umi no Yadori" is a 45-minute bus ride from Takamatsu Station, and is a hot spring inn in a great location with a panoramic view of the Seto Inland Sea. The rooms are elegantly furnished, with impressive wooden construction and beautiful walls. There are also windows from which you can enjoy the view outside. You can enjoy the atmosphere and mood in the large open-air bath, and the indoor large bath is also beautifully equipped.

For your stay in Kotohira Onsen, I recommend "Kotone." This inn is quietly located on the shrine's back approach. Its main draw is the six private, reservable baths, which you can use as many times as you like during your stay, free of charge. While there are no open-air baths, you can enjoy a unique 'bath tour' through various amazing styles—from a rare tatami-floor bath and a luxurious granite tub, to an aromatic wooden bath and one with a nostalgic 'Taishō Roman' design. The creative kaiseki dinner, featuring local seafood and vegetables, is also generous and very satisfying.
