Along the Gono Line, you can feel the atmosphere of the north. If you want to leaf peeping in the Shirakami Mountains, the Hotel Grand Mer Sankaisou was great. It is the most luxurious hotel in the area. I was impressed by the view of the majestic Sea of Japan from the open-air bath.

This is an inn with a hot spring overlooking Breathtaking view Sea of Japan. Koganezaki Furofushi Onsen boasts an open-air bath where you can listen to the sound of the waves while bathing, and bathing while watching the sunset is an exceptional experience. The hotel is also equipped with a large public bath and sauna, so you can refresh both your body and mind. We had a luxurious time enjoying dinner and breakfast where we could enjoy fresh local seafood.

Akiu Akiu Onsen, but this inn has a 100% natural hot spring that flows directly from the source, making it a rare find. There are four Mixed-Gender Hot Springs natural rock baths, which are reserved for women at certain times. There is also a semi-open-air clear stream bath reserved for women, and a large bath, Fujino-yu, separated for men and women. As all of the baths are 100% natural, they are available 24 hours a day, excluding certain cleaning times. There is a kaiseki plan for meals, but there is also Buffet plan for breakfast and dinner. The price is of course low, but there is a wide variety of food, so Buffet is recommended. In addition to the baths, there is a 20m heated pool that uses natural hot spring water. Recreational facilities include table tennis and billiards.

鬼怒川沿いに建っており、紅葉を楽しむのにぴったりのホテルです。全室半露天風呂付き客室です。そこから眺める秋の景色を、鬼怒川温泉のかけ流し風呂に浸かりながら楽しむという贅沢な時間を過ごすことができます。もちろん大浴場の露天風呂でも、山をメインとした自然の景色が目の前に広がり、非常に癒されます。食事には旬の食材を使った会席料理が出ます。そして夜は大人な雰囲気のバーラウンジを利用できて、リッチな気分に浸れる宿です。最寄りの龍王峡駅から鬼怒川公園駅まで30分、駅からは送迎バスが出てます。

山の中にある作並温泉の宿です。露天風呂は野趣あふれる岩風呂で、屋根やすだれで日かげを作っています。まわりを山に囲まれているので、秋には宿から紅葉が楽しめます。食事は、里山の創作懐石料理がいただけます。

This Shukubo, a short walk from Kyoto's Sanjusangendo Temple, offers modern amenities despite its traditional classification, making it highly recommended for first-time guests. A distinctive feature of this temple is the paintings on walls and sliding doors created by Hasegawa Tohaku, commissioned by Toyotomi Hideyoshi in memory of his son, Tsurumatsu. Additionally, a monk will serve as the guide. Guests can choose between Kyoto-style Kaiseki cuisine and Shojin Ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine).

福島県の北部にある裏磐梯の紅葉は、目を見張るような美しさですよ。おすすめのホテルは、「裏磐梯レイクリゾート 迎賓館」です。湖面に映り込んだ真っ赤に染まる山々は、目を見張るような綺麗さです。館内はラグジュアリーな内装で数々の美術品・芸術品が展示されています。紅葉の風景の中の露天風呂は最高です。

「一乗院」さんをおすすめします。お寺の宿ならではの精進料理、写経や勤行などの体験もできます。自然に囲まれているので紅葉が綺麗です。修行の初心者も歓迎しているので軽い気持ちで泊まってみてはいかがでしょうか。

東北地方だと宮城県の鳴子峡では美しい紅葉におおわれて絶景です。その近くの「鳴子ホテル」をおすすめします。創業１４０年の老舗温泉旅館です。JR鳴子温泉駅から徒歩で３分くらいにあります。鳴子温泉エリアでは一番大きい湯船があって、色んな趣の異なった露天風呂もあります。温泉は外気や湿度によってお湯の色が微妙に変化するのが面白いです。食事はバイキングで「鮎の塩焼き」などの郷土料理や地酒もいっぱいあって大満足。ホテルの周辺には鳴子温泉神社やダムなど色んな観光スポットがあって充分に楽しめました。

青森県の青荷温泉はいかがでしょうか。道の駅「虹の湖」から少し行ったところです。人里離れた山里で、半径２キロ以内には農場と僅かな畑があるだけです。宿の周りは、様々に木々が紅葉しています。自然のままの姿が見られますよ。こじんまりとした鄙びた宿ですが、お風呂は4カ所あって湯めぐりができます。

The inn is surrounded by nature, and you can enjoy the tranquil scenery. It is also ideal for strolling around Arashiyama and Sagano. The food is luxurious, using local seasonal ingredients, and is delicious in both quality and quantity. As you would expect from a long-established restaurant, it has a sense of style and atmosphere, and is relaxing and soothing.

This Shukubo is located in Chion-in Temple, a famous tourist spot in Kyoto. All rooms are equipped with a bathtub, toilet, and air conditioning. There are also rooms with beds. If you're looking for a more substantial meal than Shojin Ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine), Kaiseki cuisine using seasonal ingredients is recommended. Although it doesn't feel like a typical Shukubo, you can experience sutra copying, offering a unique and luxurious experience compared to ordinary temple lodgings.

If you are touring the Shirakami Mountains in Aomori Prefecture, I recommend "Aone Shirakami Juniko." It is a 5-minute drive or 20-minute walk from Juniko Station. It is a comprehensive resort hotel surrounded by nature and has a very large site. It felt like a small theme park. You can also enjoy cottages and Japanese-style rooms. The food was delicious and locally produced, and I was satisfied. There are also guided trekking guides for Juniko and Shirakami Forest Bathing, so I think it was the perfect hotel for our purpose.

This is Ryokan (Japanese inn) in Iwate, located right next to the scenic Genbikei Gorge. The hot spring has a large indoor bath and an open-air bath. It is a natural hot spring, and the bathtub made of cypress is recommended. The food was delicious, including Iwate's famous Maesawa beef and seafood from Sanriku. At Genbikei Gorge, you can also enjoy cuckoo dumplings, which are delivered on a string stretched across the river.

宮城県の北西部にある温泉地にあるリゾートホテルです。この周辺は、紅葉の名所で、とてもきれいです。特に鳴子峡の紅葉は絶品です。ゆったり散策しながら眺められることをおすすめします。散策された後の、食事、温泉は格別かと思います。

I think Fumon-in is one of the most luxurious Shukubo out of Shukubo many available. It is Shukubo in Mount Koya in Wakayama Prefecture, and you can choose from a Japanese and Western room suite with a bed to a simple 10-tatami Japanese-style room. Of course, the price is a little high, but you can experience everything you would get at a regular Shukubo, such as copying sutras and enjoying vegetarian cuisine. Depending on the plan, you can even have meals served in your room. Rather than a trip for young people, I think it's a great gift trip for parents who want to try sightseeing at Mount Koya for once.

If you're looking to experience a Shukubo for the first time, we recommend Koyasan Onsen Fukuchi-in Koyasan, Wakayama Prefecture. This is a popular Shukubo at Koyasan. You can try Shojin Ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine) and freshly made soba noodles. If you begin your ascent of Mt. Koya from the base, you might be fortunate enough to receive osettai (such as complimentary tea) offered to pilgrims on their way to Mt. Koya.

This Shukubo is located in Shiga Prefecture, behind the Monjuro Gate, in a quiet location. Participation in the morning services is voluntary, but you will take part in the services at Konpon Chudo Hall. You will feel invigorated. You will be served a colorful, beautiful and delicious Shojin Ryori (Buddhist vegetarian cuisine). The view of Lake Biwa from the large public bath is also amazing.
