  • A retro wooden Japanese-style Ryokan (Japanese inn)

This inn has a Taisho-era romantic feel and feels a bit old. It is registered as a tangible cultural property, so I would not recommend it to those who want a nice and clean inn. Although it is old, it is clean and the food is delicious. You will be satisfied with the service, such as free drinks including alcohol during your stay. (Alcohol is available until 10pm) It is a wooden building, so please be careful as sounds from neighboring rooms can easily echo. The hot spring is small but clean, and you can enjoy the hot spring water 100% natural hot spring.

  • Ginzan Onsen is a hot spring inn filled with the romantic atmosphere of the Taisho era.

It is said that the reason Ginzan Onsen is so popular in Japan is the atmosphere of "Taisho Romanticism" that remains in its streets and architecture. In that respect, Kosekiya Bekkan is one of the lodgings we would recommend to those visiting Ginzan Onsen for the first time. Not only the exterior, but the interior is also retro in every way, making it very photogenic and sure to leave a lasting memory. This lodging has two indoor baths, but guests can also use the baths at the sister lodging, Ginzansou.

  • Ryokan (Japanese inn) makes you feel like you've traveled back in time

Ryokan (Japanese inn) treasures the atmosphere of Taisho-era romance and has kept its wooden structure intact. Therefore, footsteps and other sounds echo, but we recommend it to those who don't mind that. The food is a Japanese meal made with seasonal ingredients. The food is gently seasoned and warm. You can also enjoy Yamagata Kuroge Wagyu beef. All rooms are Japanese-style. The toilets are separate and shared, but there are many of them so you shouldn't have any problems. Free Wi-Fi is also available, and there is a shuttle service to the station (reservations are required).

  • A retro wooden Japanese-style building worth staying in

Because it is a small inn, you can enjoy traditional Japanese architecture. First of all, choosing a room is fun. You can choose from the rooms on the river side where you can feel the four seasons, or the quiet and cozy mountain side, both of which have spacious layouts where you can relax and unwind. The highlight of the river side is the view of the gas lamps that are typical of Ginzan Onsen. The mountain side rooms have a different view, but I personally recommend the tranquility of these rooms, where the sound of the river is farther away. The toilets in the regular guest rooms are outside the room, so if this bothers you, consider upgrade. The renovated rooms on the top floor have an interior that seems to encapsulate Taisho-era romance even more, and the corridors leading up to them also have a nice atmosphere.

  • The illuminated hot spring town is definitely worth a visit.

This is a retro Ryokan (Japanese inn) with a Taisho-era romantic feel. The stained glass used for the partitions in the large public bath and dining area is still intact. Dinner starts with an aperitif of shiso sake, followed by a line-up of local ingredients such as conger eel and plum paste, and isogai zunda. The waitresses bow deeply to see you off as you exit the entrance.

  • A retro inn with a Taisho-era romantic atmosphere

Kosekiya Annex is a Ginzan Onsen inn with a retro Taisho-era atmosphere where you can fully enjoy the atmosphere of a good old hot spring. There are also spacious rooms with two rooms connected together, making it ideal for a hot spring trip with the whole family. You can enjoy 100% natural hot spring water directly from the source in a large bath with a retro atmosphere and stained glass. In addition, the accommodation plan with meals that make use of Tohoku specialties and ingredients unique to Yamagata Prefecture is also popular, and we recommend the plan with dinner that allows you to enjoy Obanazawa beef to your heart's content.

  • A retro and tasteful wooden building

If you're visiting Ginzan Onsen, I recommend the Kosekiya Annex. Located almost in the center of the hot spring town, the four-story wooden building is one of the most iconic structures in Ginzan Onsen. The tasteful guest rooms are on the river side facing the hot spring town, and on the mountain side, with two adjacent rooms, so they are spacious. For meals, you can enjoy local Yamagata flavors such as Yamagata beef steak and Yamagata potato stew. In addition to the two indoor baths with 100% natural hot spring, you can also use the open-air bath at the sister hotel, Ginzanso.

  • Enjoy delicious local cuisine almost in the center of Ginzan Onsen!

Located almost in the center of Ginzan Onsen, Kosekiya Annex serves warm local cuisine made with seasonal ingredients from the mountains and the sea! The interior of the building, which retains a strong hint of the good old days and exudes the scent of Taisho-era romance, makes you feel like you've traveled back in time, and we had a wonderful time enjoying the delicious food!

  • A lovely inn with a Taisho-era romantic atmosphere

We recommend this inn, which has a lovely Taisho-era romantic feel. There are rooms facing the river that overlook the hot spring town below. Nighttime is also the best, as you can spend time watching the gas lamps lit up in Ginzan Onsen. The romantic atmosphere is perfect for couples, and it's perfect for social media. You can relax in the large hot spring bath, which 100% natural hot spring. You can also use the hot spring at our sister inn, Ginzanso, where you can enjoy the largest open-air bath in Ginzan Onsen.

  • The food and atmosphere of Ryokan (Japanese inn) are recommended.

"Kosekiya Annex" is a typical inn in Ginzan Onsen. The charming Taisho-era romantic structure and atmosphere are recommended for couples. The food was also very delicious, including Yamagata beef steak, sashimi, and Tsuyahime rice, a specialty of Yamagata. It is located right in the middle of Ginzan Onsen town, so we enjoyed strolling around the town.

  • Feel the Japanese atmosphere at Ginzan Onsen

Ginzan Onsen is a place where you can feel the Japanese atmosphere. This place is a little independent guest cottages from the Ginzan Onsen scenery that you often see in photos, but I recommend it from the viewpoint of comfort, such as size and facilities. There are two indoor baths in particular, both of which have a nice old-fashioned atmosphere. You can also use the baths at the sister hotel "Ginzanso" for free. It is within walking distance to the center of the hot spring town.

  • hot spring with a beautiful snowy view

Yamagata Prefecture has many wonderful hot spring, but I think Ginzan Onsen is the best. Ginzan Onsen, with its Taisho era romantic atmosphere, makes you feel like you're in another world. This inn has an indoor bath, open-air bath, and open-air bath Lying-down bath bath. All of the springs are of good quality and were very warming. In winter, the scenery is a silver world. There is no doubt that Ginzan Onsen becomes even more charming when covered in silver. The buildings and rooms are clean and well-maintained. The customer service is also impeccable. The food is also carefully prepared using local ingredients and was very delicious. I'm sure it will be a good memory of Ginzan Onsen.
