You can bathe in the large, open-air bath or the free-flowing natural rock bath that retains the atmosphere of the time of the inn's founding. Meals are served in buffet style with a wide variety of attractive dishes. Children's rates apply to elementary school children and infants.

Dinner was a gourmet kaiseki course, a parade of premium local ingredients such as Shimane Wagyu beef, Oki Matsuba crab, and the prized Nodoguro fish. The indulgence continues at breakfast: a lavish buffet with a wide variety of dishes, including the inn's signature pancakes with a special brown sugar syrup.

The viscous hot spring water, which is said to have skin-beautifying effects, is famous for changing color over time. Dinner is a "Michinoku Buffet" using carefully selected ingredients from Tohoku, and you can enjoy the live feeling of the food being cooked right in front of you. From the rooms with foot baths, you can spend a relaxing time while looking out at the mountain village scenery. It is easily accessible, just a 5-minute walk from JR Naruko Onsen Station, and parking is free. This inn is perfect for a family of four.

 If you're looking for a hotel with a buffet in Kusatsu Onsen, I recommend "Hotel Ichii." It's in a prime location, standing right in front of the "Yubatake," Kusatsu Onsen's famous symbol. It was super easy to just step out for a quick walk at night to see the Yubatake all lit up. The buffet hall just had its grand opening in 2024, so it's very clean. And, of course, the food was delicious with plenty of variety. If your main priority is strolling around the onsen town, I highly recommend it.

This inn serves Buffet style meal. It is a creative Buffet using seasonal ingredients, such as parsley hotpot, shrimp aglio e olio, and clams and garlic leaves pickled in Shaoxing wine. The open-air bath on the rooftop allows you to enjoy the hot springs while looking out over the rural landscape of Naruko.

I would like to recommend Suimeikan. Dinner was not Buffet, but a Japanese-Western fusion banquet using fresh ingredients from Tobida, but there was a lot of food on the menu and I was full. Breakfast was a Japanese-Western Buffet, and the menu was also rich. There are several baths, but the large observation bath was impressive as it offered a night view of the city of Gero.

If you're going with your friend's family, I really recommend "Hotel Village"! The dinner buffet has an incredible variety of Japanese, Western, and Chinese food—it's so much fun just deciding what to get. You can also get freshly prepared steak and sushi from the live kitchen. They also have plenty of kid-friendly favorites like french fries, karaage (Japanese fried chicken), and desserts, so it's a huge relief even if you have picky eaters. I think it's the kind of buffet where everyone, both adults and kids, can truly eat their fill of all their favorite things.

This is a European-style resort hotel located at an altitude of 1,200 meters. Surrounded by the "Baelz Forest," it’s a place where you can spend a truly healing time immersed in nature. They offer an attractive Japanese, Western, and Chinese buffet, featuring menus centered around local Gunma ingredients. They hold seasonal fairs with different themes, so you'll never get bored no matter how many times you visit. The buffet isn't just for dinner; they offer it for breakfast as well. The fluffy, melt-in-your-mouth omelets, cooked one by one right in front of you, are very popular. The onsen includes indoor baths and open-air baths with free-flowing spring water (gensen kakenagashi), and there is also a sauna. Furthermore, there are five different types of private, reservable open-air baths. A free shuttle bus is available to get to the "Yubatake" (Kusatsu's symbol) and the Kusatsu Onsen Bus Terminal.

For dinner, there is a wide variety of menu items, and you can eat as much freshly cooked food as you like at Buffet with a live kitchen that also has a wide selection of desserts. Children will also be happy. The hot spring has an open-air bath that is as large as a famous Senjojiki, so the whole family can enjoy Naruko no Yu.

My stay at Itoen Hotel Kusatsu was more comfortable than I expected. The inn is located in a quiet area a little independent guest cottages from the Yubatake hot springs, and a free shuttle bus makes it easy to get around. What impressed me most was the high quality of the dinner buffet. There was a very wide variety of dishes, and we could enjoy a variety of cuisines, including Japanese, Western, and Chinese. The hot dishes were constantly replenished, and all of them were delicious. The large, open-air bath where you can enjoy Kusatsu's famous hot springs was wonderful, and the open-air bath had an open atmosphere that made you feel like you were in the middle of a forest. The hotel is well-equipped with a table tennis room, games corner, and a shop. It was good value for money, and I had a fulfilling stay that was lively yet relaxing.

This ryokan is a paradise for onsen lovers, boasting one of the largest public bath complexes in Tamatsukuri Onsen. I could completely stretch out and unwind in the two distinct sets of baths: a spacious, rock-hewn indoor and outdoor bath, and a fragrant hinoki cypress indoor and outdoor bath. It was also a treat to have a choice between high and low-temperature dry saunas. The pampering continued at dinner with a feast of local delicacies like Nodoguro fish, Tottori Wagyu beef, and the famously plump shijimi clams from Lake Shinji. The breakfast buffet was also a highlight, featuring many local specialties.

We had a wonderful view of the mountains from our Japanese-style room. open-air bath with the trees in front of you gave us the feeling of forest bathing, which was great. As it is part of the Oedo hot spring group, the buffet was very substantial. There was a wide variety of Japanese, Western, Chinese and sweets on the menu. The tempura was freshly fried in the live kitchen, and the steaks were also freshly grilled, which was very satisfying. Being able to choose the color of the yukata was also a nice service. There are also playful elements to this inn, so it's a fun place to stay.

If you are visiting Tamatsukuri Onsen in Shimane, might I suggest Hoseikan? As one of the most distinguished and long-established ryokans in the onsen town, it boasts a legacy of over 300 years. This heritage is reflected in its excellent hot springs and legendary hospitality (omotenashi). The dining experience is equally superb, featuring a dinner of seasonal delicacies like Shimane Wagyu beef and snow crab. In the morning, you can enjoy a generous Japanese and Western-style buffet with over 20 dishes that incorporate local ingredients.

This hot spring inn offers four private baths, all of which are free to use, and the alkaline spring water is gentle on the skin. The open-air baths, where you can enjoy the view of fresh greenery, are particularly pleasant, allowing you to fully enjoy the seasonal atmosphere. The cute bathtubs that you can use when visiting the hot springs are also a distinctive feature. This hot spring inn is also recommended for family stays, as they offer services such as ice cream after the bath and soba noodles for crying at night.
