The nearest station is JR Shinagawa on the Yamanote Line (the Tokaido Shinkansen and conventional lines are also convenient), so it's convenient until late at night. It's a reasonable hotel within walking distance of Shinagawa Station. You'll be able to talk about your school days, and even if you come back late you can stay here without worrying, and you can easily enjoy eating and shopping in the nearby downtown area.

If you're going to stay somewhere, it's better to stay somewhere that's typical of Tokyo. I recommend "Toyoko Inn Shinjuku Kabukicho" in Shinjuku. The price is very reasonable. The rooms and the building are well-cleaned and have a clean feeling. For your reference.

It's very conveniently located near Magome Station on the Asakusa Line. It's also about 15 minutes by train from Shinagawa Station. It's a compact business hotel, and considering the price range, I think it's doing a good job in terms of cost performance. It's also convenient for business, with wifi available in the rooms. The last train from Gotanda leaves around midnight, so it can also be used as a place to stay after a light drink.
