As for meals, you can enjoy a carefully selected kaiseki course that matches Setouchi with high-quality ingredients such as Iyo beef and Matsuyama chicken. In particular, the Iyo beef sashimi and foie gras Rossini with truffle-flavored egg and early mandarin crepes flambé are superb.

For a classic onsen ryokan (hot spring inn) experience near Itsukushima Shrine, I highly recommend Arimoto. While the historic Japanese architecture is stunning, the dining experience is on another level. Here, you can savor authentic kaiseki cuisine, the kind served at a high-end traditional restaurant. I especially urge you to try the dinner, which features a lavish amount of seafood from the Seto Inland Sea—think sea bream, conger eel, cutlassfish, and oysters, all delivered fresh each morning by local fishermen. It's an experience you shouldn't miss. And of course, be sure to pair your meal with some local Hiroshima sake!

Ibusuki Iwasaki Hotel is a great place to enjoy the hot springs and the ocean view. There is also a sand bath inside the hotel, and after the sand bath, it feels great to take a bath in the open-air bath overlooking the ocean. It's especially good to take a bath while watching the sunrise. The food is also pretty good, so it's a hotel the whole family can enjoy.

This is a highly recommended resort-style hotel in Karuizawa, a resort area in Nagano Prefecture. It offers a wide range of outdoor activities, including an experience program where you can interact with free-roaming rhinoceros beetles, so it is recommended for families with small children. You can relax in the hot springs in the hotel and guest rooms, surrounded by lush nature.

I'm a local. This inn has a sand bath, free shochu tasting, and a Genroku bath, which are fun for both adults and children. If you have the time and transportation, I recommend the sand Sunamushi Onsen (Steam Sand Bath) at Yamakawa Fushimi Beach, which is a truly natural hot spring that has been around for a long time. If you go a little further, you can also visit Japan's only tourist seahorse farm, the Seahorse House, and Kamafuta Shrine, which are also interesting.

This place definitely doesn't feel like a standard budget hotel in Kyoto. The lobby and interior design are sophisticated and stylish, which was great for a trip with friends. The atmosphere is calm and chic, making it feel high-end despite the affordable price. Being so close to Kyoto Station, the quality and excellent value make this a place I will definitely book again for my next Kyoto stay.

This Kurokawa Onsen hotel prides itself on the spectacular scenery from its location 920 meters up on a highland plateau. The lobby itself offers a panoramic vista of the Senomoto Highlands and the five peaks of Mt. Aso. You can enjoy this magnificent view while soaking in the natural hot springs, whether from the incredibly spacious "Zekkei Hana no Yu" open-air bath overlooking the Aso grasslands, the glass-fronted "Senshin no Yu" observation bath, or one of the private baths. The culinary experience also connects you to the land, with kaiseki meals featuring ingredients sourced from Kumamoto and Aso.

Ibusuki Royal Hotel does not have a sand bath on site, but they provide a free shuttle bus to a place where sand baths are available, so it wasn't a problem. The large public bath and open-air bath in the hotel had good quality water and a nice view. We also enjoyed the delicious shochu and Satsuma Kuroge Wagyu steak, as well as other dishes made with local ingredients.

If you are looking for an inn with an open-air bath and in-room dining in Arima Onsen, I recommend this inn. It is a spacious, clean, and elegant inn, and the open-air "Kinsen" bath is in the room, so it is great to be able to take a bath in the hot spring whenever you want without worrying about the people around you. Dinner is also served in the room. You will definitely be satisfied.

The Toyoko Inn chain is always clean and functional, making it a reliable base for any trip. There was enough space to organize our luggage, and it was comfortable for two people. Since the Randen (tram) station is right there, taking a unique route to the Arashiyama sightseeing area was a lot of fun. If you're a first-time visitor to Kyoto worried about complicated transportation, this is definitely the place to stay.

Since we stayed for multiple nights, having a standard microwave in the room was incredibly convenient. It saved us a lot of money on meals because we could heat up food from the supermarket. The nearby JR and subway lines made it easy to reach both Kinkaku-ji and the Eastern Kyoto sightseeing areas. It’s an excellent, functional base perfect for solo travelers who are planning an extended temple tour.

This long-established inn, dating back to the late Edo period, lets you truly feel its history and savor the authentic atmosphere of Kurokawa Onsen. The grand public baths are as atmospheric as the inn itself, making for a wonderfully leisurely soak; the views from both the indoor and open-air baths are so stunning you'll never want to get out. The serene guest rooms with their beautiful views of the trees, the elegant seiro-mushi (basket-steamed) dishes of local meat and vegetables, and the attentive staff all come together to create a deeply historic and comfortable stay.

The rooms with open-air baths vary in price depending on the room grade, and the lowest one costs 70,000 yen per person, but it is a room on the top floor with an excellent view, and the open-air bath is of course a Gin-yu hot spring. The meal is a carefully selected kaiseki course, cooked in the kitchen on the same floor and brought to the room while it is still hot. The food is as extravagant as possible, including Kobe beef fillet and sirloin steak, abalone, sea urchin, and other appetizers, as well as Akashi sea bream and live sashimi of tuna. The breakfast is so luxurious that it could be mistaken for dinner. The bath in the room is of course good, but the inn's observation large bath is on the same floor, so it is easy to get to. The bath has a spacious indoor bath (Ginsen) with Breathtaking view view below, an open-air bath where you can taste Kinsen and Ginsen, and a sauna is also attached. By the way, there is also a wonderful large bath in the basement. If you have time, I recommend going there. The indoor bath and open-air bath have a completely different atmosphere from those on the 9th floor.

We recommend Gero Onsen Suimeikan. Not only is this inn one of the member Ryokan (Japanese inn), but the inn itself has four accommodation buildings, three of which have their own hot springs with different characteristics, making it an attractive point. You can enjoy a quick hot spring tour experience within the same facility, with the open-air bath at Sansuikaku, the cypress bath at Rinsenkaku, and the large observation bath at Hisenkaku. The alkaline simple hot spring with a faint sulfur scent is gentle on the skin, and this is a recommended hot spring inn where you can feel the strong smoothness of your skin after bathing.

We recommend Ginsui-so Choraku in Arima Onsen. It is a rare inn where you can enjoy two different springs (Kinsen and Ginsen) at once, and it is a great inn with a quiet surroundings. The best of them all is the independent guest cottages villa "Shiki" with its open-air bath. There is no contact with other guests, and you can enjoy a special space just for the two of you. It is a wonderful room full of luxury where you can enjoy the open-air baths of "Kinsen" and "Ginsen", the semi-open-air bath, the steam bath, and the foot bath at your own pace on the premises.

If you're staying overnight on Miyajima, you must experience the magic of Itsukushima Shrine in the early morning, before the crowds arrive. If the tide is high, you can have the ethereal sight of the Great O-torii Gate, seemingly floating on the water in the tranquil morning air, all to yourself. Hotel Miyajima Besso is just a short walk from the shrine, making it a perfect base for an easy morning stroll. You can soak in the sacred atmosphere before heading back to the hotel for a delicious breakfast—a special luxury reserved for overnight guests. Plus, its location right in front of the ferry terminal makes managing your luggage after check-out a breeze.

How about Funaya Hotel? It is located about 25 minutes by car from Matsuyama IC. It is the oldest Ryokan (Japanese inn) in Dogo and its 1,000m2 natural garden offers seasonal scenery. The baths are drawn from Dogo Onsen, and the alkaline simple spring water is effective against rheumatism and neurological diseases. There is also a plan where you can dine in your room, so you can enjoy the ingredients of Setouchi.

The Sheraton Grand Hiroshima Hotel is directly connected to the Shinkansen (bullet train) exit of Hiroshima Station, just a 1-minute walk from the ticket gates, making your travel completely stress-free. From there, it's an easy 30-minute train ride to Miyajimaguchi Station, the gateway to Miyajima Island. True to its reputation as a leading hotel brand, the hotel offers a sophisticated and tranquil atmosphere, and the guest rooms are very comfortable. With its unbeatable accessibility, this hotel is highly recommended for travelers who want to make the most of their time in Hiroshima.

This inn is sandwiched between Mt. Okuba and the Takigawa River, which boasts the best natural scenery in Arima Onsen. We recommend the independent guest cottages guest room "Kyokusuitei" with its own 100% natural hot spring in the open-air baths "Tamahoko-no-yu" and "Afuku-no-yu" along the Takigawa River, as well as in the large public baths "Kame-no-yu" and "Tsuru-no-yu". As for meals, you can dine on kaiseki（a traditional Japanese multiple course meal ）made with seafood caught in the Hyogo region and Kobe beef in your room. The specially ordered dishes such as the Kobe beef amai-yaki and Akashi seafood teppanyaki are particularly delicious.
